WHO ARE WE?
Chucktown Gun Club (CGC) is the Charleston area chapter of the National African American Gun Association (NAAGA). CGC exists to be a community asset. By A.S.S.E.T. we mean Advocacy for Self-Defense, Safety, Education and Training in Firearms. Despite the rumors, there is a rich history and legacy of gun ownership of African Americans in this country. Having been around since 2018 and organized as a 501c3 in July 2023, we are continuously building the organization, the community and our members. We believe through Education we can teach the community about firearm safety as well as dispel rumors. Through Training, members build knowledge and skill enabling them to know when and how to properly use their firearm. The combination of education and training Empowers them to no longer fear the firearm but rather live with a healthy respect for its use for recreation and self-defense. We host bi-monthly (every other month) meetings at C&S Shooting Sports on Rivers Avenue typically the 4th Saturday of the month. On the opposite months, we have range trainings at a private range located outside of Jamestown SC.
OUR LOGO
Our logo is a shield and banner. The name Chucktown comes from the nickname of the major city of our area, Charleston. Our parent organization is NAAGA, listed at the top. Within the shield is a silhouetted image of Broad St, one of the most recognizable street scenes of Charleston, SC. The image is stylized using the Pan-African colors to represent the history of African Americans and our ties to this city.

The crossed rifles represent the idea of defense of self, family and community, while the modern pistols represent the love of recreational competition.
